About Me
Working With Plumbers

It isn't always easy to identify what kinds of problems exist in your home, especially if you are new to home ownership. However, a few months back, I realized that we had some serious plumbing problems that needed to be addressed. Our sinks were always clogging and we were constantly having issues with sewer smells in our place, so I started focusing more seriously on working with a team of plumbers. When the experts came out, they had ideas about how to proceed right away, and they worked hard to help us. Now, our home is gorgeous and completely functional, and we owe it all to them. Signs That A Serious Plumbing Problem Is On The Horizon

If you are a homeowner who cares about the condition of your home, then you probably want to make sure that all repairs are completed in a timely manner. This means paying attention to signs that a disaster might be on the horizon. Read on to learn about what the signs may be when it comes to your plumbing system so you can contact a plumber right away for an assessment.

Sudden Reduction In Water Pressure

If you begin to use your faucet in your home and notice that water pressure is suddenly low, then this may be a sign of a serious issue. Oftentimes, the problem is accompanied by some banging sounds, water that spurts out the faucet, and air bubbles releasing along with the water. These are all signs that water is not moving through the pipes as it should and air is getting into the water supply line.

Sometimes a water main break can cause the problem, so you want to start by calling your local water authority to find out if this is an issue in your area. A water main break alert may not require the assistance of a plumber, but it will mean that you should be boiling your water due to contamination issues.

If the water company indicates that there is no wider issue with the supply lines, then you need to think about the possibility of a pipe that has broken on your property. Look around the home, especially in the basement for water leaks and shut off your water if you note one. If you do not see a leak, then a plumber will look for one outside the home. In this situation, your plumber will need to contact the water company to turn off the water at the street so a repair can be made.

Rotten Egg Odors

If you are starting to smell a foul odor coming from your toilet, sinks, or plumbing vents or other areas of the home, then this indicates one of several serious problems. All of them need to be addressed by a plumber right away. In this situation, your septic tank may be full and gas is making its way back through your drainage lines. Soon, waste will flow backward too.

The problem may also be the movement of gas back towards your home due to a clogged plumbing vent. And, sometimes, the problem may be one or several waste lines that have cracked or broken, causing a leak of sewage into the ground near your home.

Reach out to a plumber if you suspect something is wrong.
